Every Wednesday: 6:00 PM in St. Mary's - Every Friday: 6:00 PM in St. Edward's
We all make an effort not to miss on Sunday as it is the Sabbath Day and receive the flesh of Jesus in the Eucharist after the sacrame of Confession. St. John in his Gospel states that "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us," (John 1:14) The Word of God is important as well as the Eucharist (CCC #103).
Let us give some time to learn the Bible weekly. We live the Word reading it every day. Now our parish has the opportunity to learn the Word weekly.
Lord, today we celebrate the word of God. We ask your forgiveness for not respecting and venerating the Word of God as much as we venerate the Eucharist from your Holy Altar (CCC #103) throughout our lives, whether by omission or commission. We ask for the healing of our families and our dear children and grandchildren and great grandchildren through the Blood of the Lamb who takes away our sins (John 1:29).
We reject the spirit of the age of this world who blinded our eyes to prevent us from seeing the Glory of Jesus Christ in the Word of God (2 Corinthians 4:4). We deny the spirit of disobedience and the spirit of the ruler of the power of air (Ephesians 2:2). We know that our battle is not against the flesh and blood of our brothers and sisters, but with the principalities, the powers, the world rulers of this present darkness, and with the evil spirit in the heavens (Ephesians 6:12).
Lord, Your Word is spirit and eternal (John 6:63)! We believe that Your Word made flesh (John 1:14) in Jesus, and we receive you in the Eucharist from Your Holy Altar. We believe that Your Word is living and Active (Hebrews 4:12). We believe Your Word is the Light that shines in darkness of our hearts and in the world (John 1:1-5) We believe Your Word is Living Bread (John 6:51) that our Heavenly Father grants us every day.
O Jesus, Open our Hearts and Minds to understand the Holy Scripture (Luke 24:45) as you opened the hearts and minds of the disciples on their way to Emmaus. May our young men and women keep your words in their hearts and stay pure in their lives (Psalms 119:9). Grant us a desire to read Your Word daily as I receive the Eucharist (Wisdom 6:11). We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen
